The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering is one of the largest departments of the University of Pavia, with 70 lecturers and 200 researchers, including PhD students and research fellows. It has more than 30 research laboratories, covering a variety of topics including computer science, microelectronics, photonics, energy and power systems, automation, robotics, bioengineering and bioinformatics. The Department participates in several competitive research projects at national and international level and is an important center for technology transfer, collaborating with many companies local, national, and multinational.
The Department manages, within the Faculty of Engineering, eight degree courses: three Bachelor courses – Bioengineering, Electronic and Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering – and five Master’s degree courses, three of which in English – Bioengineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering. In addition, the Department offers three PhD courses: Bioengineering, Bioinformatics and Health Technologies, Electronics, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and Microelectronics.
Finally, the Department is the administrative headquarters of two interdepartmental centers: the Centre for Health Technologies (CHT) and the Interdepartmental Research Center for the History of Electrical Technology (CIRSTE).
