CINI, a non-profit consortium established in 1989, is today the main reference point for national academic research in the fields of Informatics and Information Technology. It is under the supervision of the Ministry responsible for Universities and Research and consists of 47 public universities.
Consortium of Bioengineering and Medical Informatics (Consorzio di Bioingegneria e Informatica Medica) – CBIM
CBIM is a non-profit research organization established in 1992, institutionally responsible for the design of innovative services based on the use of Information & Communication Technology - ICT technologies in the healthcare sector. It is a partner of the Ministry of Health for the management of the Research Information System and, since its foundation, has collaborated with many Italian Hospitals for the management of large-scale Hospital Information Systems.
National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni) – CNIT
CNIT is a non-profit organization founded in 1995 and recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), which carries out research, innovation and advanced training activities in the wide field of ICT. CNIT associates 38 universities, 8 CNR research units and six National Laboratories. The National Laboratories are structures of the CNIT available to all member universities, with the aim of carrying out particularly demanding research activities at the experimental and implementation level at national and international level. CNIT also has over 100 own researchers and technicians who work alongside affiliates belonging to the affiliated universities at their locations and at the National Laboratories headquarters.
